Alive and Kickin'

I'm here, still getting a handle on things but I'm here.  Baby girl turned six months and she is doing so much.  Sitting up, eating solids and just letting her personality grow.  Things around the house are working so much smoother than before and we are getting into more of a "maintain mode" instead of a project over here and a project over there resulting in piles of stuff everywhere.  I pushed the garbage disposal to the limit by trying to grind up sweet potato skins (I know), so it sprung a leak and we needed to get it replaced.  We got an estimate from a plumber and it was so pricey, we watched YouTube and decided we had to at least try.  Raul installed it on Friday and it is beautiful!!  The disposal is so quiet and grinds like a dream, it's the little things.

A couple of weeks ago we went to see the Van Gogh exhibit at the Denver Art Museum.  I want to go back.  His pieces look so different in person.  More vibrant and more energy than in pictures and his paintings are lighter as well.  I was going to get a Van Gogh book but then I noticed the contrast was up and the saturation was down on the majority of his art.  Very interested in his use of color theory, he used complements purposely to get the colors to create contrast and tension.  El Anatsui has an exhibit going on as well that ends January 6, he creates sculptures out of ceramics, wood and mixed media.  Absolutely beautiful.

If you can, you should go check it out.  I wanted to spend all day there, run out and sketch, come back in, repeat.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
