Putting the Ice Cream Down

This isn't so much a resolution because those don't work out so well for me. My goal around March last year was to exercise more and when they built a gym at my job, it was right on time. I mark my work outs with a smiley face on my calendar and I counted them today. Seventy six workouts for about eight months. This year my goal is to beat that with the ideal workout number being 208 (4 days a week). Time to tone up already and no more Whoppers.

I try not to talk about the weather because it is a boring subject but lately it has been crazy cold. I'm talking two degrees at night cold. It wasn't so bad going back to work in it today. My first day back at work after having two weeks off.

Those two weeks were divine. A lot of that time off went into the alphabet project and I'm trying to figure out the next step. It's definitely getting published, probably self published. Finding my way as I go along.

I think it's time for a big ol meme so here goes. (Linda is responsible, thank you.)

1. What did you do in 2007 that you’d never done before?

Went away with my fiance to Sante Fe for the first time and unexpectedly got engaged. Such a sweet surprise!

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Kinda, I was going to get healthier. Which I say every year. But I actually did kick butt and go to the gym at work and keep going past the first month.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

My friend Charlene and my friend Jasmine both had baby boys.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

No, thank God.

5. What countries did you visit?

Nada, nada, nada. Must see more of the world at some point.

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?

More personal projects. I chalk it up to being a Leo but it's always been tough for me to finish things I start. That's why graduating college was a big deal for me as well as finishing my alphabet project. I want many more projects to come to fruition this year.

7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

April 15, the day we got engaged because it was perfect.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Getting my illustrations published in a fantastic book. This has been my dream for a long time.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Hmm, that's a toughie. My biggest failure would have to be not getting as many clients as I wanted last year. I need to work on self promotion and confidence.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

No, thank God.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

My kick butt boots. I've wanted to rock the knee-high boot look for a long long time and I finally did it. I love my brown riding boots.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

My soon to be brother in law, Jairo. He has a positive attitude through anything and everything.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

I'll jump on the bandwagon, Britney Spears and all of the crotch shots by her and other chicks in the entertainment industry. Just disgusting.

14. Where did most of your money go?

The condo, for sure.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Planning the wedding. It can be stressful, but I am really (really, really) excited about it.

16. What song will always remind you of 2007?

Rob Thomas lyrics - Little Wonders

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

a) happier or sadder? About the same. b) thinner or fatter? Thinner c) richer or poorer? Financially better off.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?

More bike riding (can't believe I'm typing this), snowboarding (I'd love to try again with lessons this time, even though I almost died the first time I went last year), and traveled.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?

Complaining about where I am and doing more to reach my goals.

20. How did you spend Christmas?

Christmas Eve = partying with Raul's family until 4 in the morning. Christmas Day = trekking across town in the snow to spend the day with my parents. They are that wonderful and the food is that good. Couldn't wait until the day after Christmas.

21. Did you fall in love in 2007?

Yes, with this delicious apple crunch pie recipe from Paula Deen. I couldn't stand her until I made that pie, now she's an ok lady.

22. What was your favorite TV program?

Dexter Dexter Dexter. Enough said!

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

No, I don’t think so.

24. What was the best book you read?

This is sad, I didn't finish any books. I'm still on the very first Harry Potter book. But I'm almost halfway through The Other Boleyn Girl. It's got my attention.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Silversun Pickups and unfortunately Amy Winehouse. She's crazy but I love her music.

26. What did you want and get?

CS3 and I love it ever so much! :D

27. What did you want and not get?

A new camera and lenses. Maybe this year the Canon 40D will be in my grasp.

28. What was your favorite film of this year?

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End I love Davy Jones.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I gathered up some of my friends for sushi, then we went to a shot party, and then a club. I turned the big 30.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

If I could stay home and illustrate or photograph for a living.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?

Comfortable and figure flattering. In the past I've been all about the big clothes (I blame TLC, the group), but now I've been showing what I've got more. I'm not as big as I thought I was.

32. What kept you sane?

Companionship, friendship, talking and venting.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Hmm...Johnny Depp. He's so damn talented.

34. What political issue stirred you the most?

The war.

35. Who did you miss?

My niece and nephews. It's hard sometimes not being able to see them grow up.

36. Who was the best new person you met?

Jay Kilgore. He is a great photographer and I have found a good friend in him.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007.

Improving your physical fitness will improve every aspect of your life. Understand someone else's needs outside your own and try to meet them. Judging other people’s personal choices is poisonous. Let the bad moments go and move forward towards better ones.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

Same song, Rob Thomas - Little Wonders

let it go, let it roll right off your shoulder don't you know the hardest part is over let it in, let your clarity define you in the end we will only just remember how it feels

our lives are made in these small hours these little wonders, these twists & turns of fate time falls away, but these small hours, these small hours still remain

let it slide, let your troubles fall behind you let it shine until you feel it all around you and i don't mind if it's me you need to turn to we?ll get by, it's the heart that really matters in the end

our lives are made in these small hours these little wonders, these twists & turns of fate time falls away, but these small hours, these small hours still remain

all of my regret will wash away some how but i can not forget the way i feel right now

in these small hours these little wonders these twists & turns of fate these twists & turns of fate time falls away but these small hours these small hours, still remain, still remain these little wonders these twists & turns of fate time falls away but these small hours these little wonders still remain
